The Last Days of Groupon !!!

21 Aug

Like so many other companies who are born with the help of internet, Groupon is very complicated these days in the retail business, travel, entertainment at a low cost to customers.
But there is much new in this type of “Company on line” over traditional
As an example, I will write about Hospitality and Tourism, and imagine what could be the problem of the “suppliers” and because they are losing money today.
First, I think Groupon should require suppliers to deliver a “lock” for their reservations, these quotas are travel, tour programs, hotel rooms or restaurant tables, which are the typical products you find in this online portal. But what if the seller are hotels, travel agencies,  restorans or fail to sell the Groupon? May be that large firms with higher levels of promotion, improved marketing channels, can be sold as “last minute”, but again we have the question …. And what about the medium or small vendors who do not have these channels and who also want a small piece of cake? … Many lose, or should put money to stop the loss.

As has always been the “middlemen” take a good commission product of many companies, and make their fortunes with this, and do not protect their providers … Providers at the end of the day, tired and end their contract with these companies, as is happening today with Travel Wholesalers and Travel Agencies, that every day are losing more ground in commissions, as vendors or suppliers of tourism are directly contacting their customers … Avoiding the “market chain” imposed by the major tour operators.

Regarding that if Facebook or Twitter will follow the same path of Groupon, I do not think, since these social networks are not part of the trade chain, as intermediaries, but rather as agents of advocacy and communication … That is why they are present today …
